Scripture - 1 Samuel 1:16-18 "....Do not regard your servant as a worthless woman, for all along I have been speaking out of my great anxiety and vexation."
Then Eli answered, "Go in peace, and the God of Israel grant your petition that you have made to Him." And she said, "Let your servant find favor in your eyes." Then the woman went her way and ate, and her face was no longer sad.
Observation - Hannah was so frustrated that the only thing she knew to do was pray to God. She went to Him without the knowledge of anyone else and prayed fervently from the depths of her tortured soul, bearing all before God. Eli knew that and sent her on her way. A peace came over her then, and she was no longer sad.
Application - How many times do we use prayer as a last resort? A last ditch effort to get our way? It should be a regular part of our routine, not spiritual 911. Nobody thought twice about Hannah going up to pray. Pouring our heart out to God and He listens and remembers, even if we don't get the answers we want.
(kneeling in) Prayer - Lord, help me to remember to come to you every day, multiple times a day. Help me to develop the habit of coming to you in prayer for everything. You listen and remember your people. Amen.
